WORRIED ABOUT SOMEONE AT HOME?

Lots of adults gamble, and for many people this does not lead to harm. But sometimes gambling can start to affect the people around them, including children and young people.

HOW IT MIGHT FEEL

Living with someone else’s gambling can affect you in lots of different ways. You might feel worried about money, or find yourself trying to keep the peace at home. You might feel anxious, low, or as though you have to grow up faster than your friends. Some people feel they have to keep it a secret, which can be lonely.

None of this means anything is wrong with you, and you are not alone.

TALKING TO SOMEONE CAN HELP

If someone else’s gambling is affecting you, it can help to talk to a trusted adult or professional. This could be a teacher, tutor, youth worker, school nurse, counsellor, family member, or another adult you feel safe speaking to.

You do not need to wait until things feel really serious before asking for help. If it is affecting how you feel, your home life, your safety, or your wellbeing, support is available.
